When people travel their travel memories tend to be based on either life experiences or material items. When you think about the places you have traveled to, where are your travel memories from?
Strange thing to ask I know, but I am a mixture of both!
On the way to another destination, a friend asked me this question: what is one of your favourite things you have bought yourself and what is the experience that surrounds it?
It made me think. I am happy to say I base my travel memories around both life experiences whilst being away and material items I may have purchased whilst being away on certain trips. As we all know I live for delicious food and fine wine and this on holiday can and does provide me with some of the most amazing travel memories possible. Almost being able to taste the location of your holiday in your food just makes me happy! But then I had a reflective moment to realise I am definitely a material item memory kind of girl from my travels.
So, to answer my friend’s question, here is my favourite item I have bought myself whilst on holiday and the experience that surrounds it.
My Elina Linadarki sandals from Santorini.
I loved them from the moment I saw them. They were my ohhhhhh moment in Santorini. The moment where something clicked in me and I felt a change in who I was at that point in my life and who I want to become now.
I know you are thinking how can one pair of shoes do that, but they just did. Whether it’s the confidence they give me when I wear them, the happiness I feel from where I have been in them, I will never know exactly.
They were me as a pair of shoes! They are bright, bubbly and full of life! They also take me back to Santorini, which is one of my favourite parts of this world!
